The owner of a dog store in Liberty is trying to find the people who walked out with a puppy on Saturday without paying for it.

Store employees said a couple from Struthers walked into the Ohio Puppy dog store and pretended to be customers who had already paid for a Puggle the previous day.

"We had a couple people that had paid for a puppy already, so I assumed that they were the same people. They were already in probably last weekend or this past weekend," said store employee Samantha Moore.

Moore said she sees many customers on a daily basis, and she thought the couple had already paid the $300 for the puggle puppy, but the couple didn't try to correct her to tell her they had not paid for the puppy yet.

"I told her, I said, oh so you're here to get your puppy and she goes yeah, and I said you guys were having trouble deciding whether you wanted a male or a female, you decided on the female right? She goes, yeah," said Moore.

Samantha said she then took the couple into her office to complete the paperwork.

"She comes in. I showed her the paperwork. She knew it wasn't her name cause I gave her the receipt--showed it to her," said Moore.

The employee realized she had given away someone else's dog when the real owner walked in moments later. The store owner said this has never happened before.

"They actually looked at the name on the paperwork and they knew it wasn't them," said store owner Marti Drozdik.

The store did not get the couple's name, but they did get video of the two people on the stores surveillance camera.

The store owner was advised by the Liberty Police Department to wait until Monday before releasing the video surveillance. They also have video of the couple's car, which was captured by surveillance cameras outside of the Blue Ribbon Rental store.

The store owner said what they really want is for the couple to bring the puppy back, and pay for it.
